New Book - Faith of our Fathers: From Barbarian to Mennonite and Beyond

My latest book is off the press!

The blurb is included below.

Faith of our Fathers: From Barbarian to Mennonite and Beyond by Richard J. Gehman is a 310 page book, thoroughly researched with seven pages of bibliography and published by Masthof Press in 2009.

This is the fascinating story of ancestral roots, tracing the Pennsylvania Dutch cultural life styles and religious beliefs back to the Germanic barbarians; then following their migration into Western Europe, their Christianization by missionary monks, and their life-ways and religious beliefs during the Medieval Age.

The Magisterial Protestant Reformation of Martin Luther and John Calvin tell the story of our Lutheran and Reformed ancestors; the Radical Reformation depicts the religious faith of the Swiss Brethren who were disciples of Ulrich Zwingli, and then of Menno Simons of our Mennonite ancestors.

The author then traces the journey of his named ancestors, beginning in the sixteenth century, in their quest of religious freedom in Pennsylvania – his Gehman, Hollinger, Horning, Bowman, and Huber paternal branches; and his Woodring, Ziegenfuss, Kemmerer and Handwerk maternal branches.

This book will enlighten everyone with a similar heritage. It is a fascinating story that is enlightening and informative.

The book can be purchased through Amazon or directly from the publisher Masthof Press.
